Althea Powell-Chandler, C. Ped
Powell Shoes
Vero Beach, FL
email: a.powell@pedorthics.org

Condition Description:
One of the great joys of being a Pedorthist is giving hope to a patient/customer whom otherwise have had failed attempts at finding suitable footwear.
Male patient presented with the following:
- Bi-lateral pes planus feet, severe edema on the right leg, ankle and dorsum of foot along with excessive hyperkeratosis on the planter aspect of each foot.
- He came in wearing flip flops as this was the only footwear he could find that fit, they of course provided no support for his feet, he was evaluated and casted for a pair custom molded shoes which was his only option.
- His shoes were each made to accommodate his feet as they are, with some of the following features, deep toe box and vamp, surgical opening on the right.
- Pictures highlight the severity of his Pedorthic needs and the final outcome.
Read the rest of this article and see all pictures and video of Althea's diagnosis in the March-April 2020 issue of Current Pedorthics!
