I would recommend a slide with a wedge sole, Finn Comfort, Dansco…If they can wear a closed back counter…I would also recommend Brooks Ghost, Beast…

I would add to what otjhers wrote…the shoe needs to have limited vertical compression of the midsole in order to maintain heel-to-toe drop and not place additional stress on the already compromised posterior chain. This is a challenge with many (most most) current running shoes, as midsole compounds have become significantly more softer - yet more resilient. The use of an OTC insole or a custom foot orthosis with a plastic or composite orthotic shell can help reduce vertical compression of the midsole as part of the treatment protocol.

The Apex X520M, X522M or X532M. The posterior heel counter is Split with adjustable velcro heel strap to adjust for the width of the heel. Along with a custom molded deep heel cup accommodative foot orthotic to control inversion and eversion and you can make sure there is relief if need be for the surgical site if needed. Also if needed I have already used a Kunzi Boot/ Neurowalker and cut out a window for the post-surgical site if there are issues with non-healing. any way you can eliminate as much plantar flexion and dorsiflex reduces the tracking of/strain on the Achilles tendon in turn allows on the achilles tendon. for healing.

I have used these Apex shoes in the past for issues like this along with a custom molded accommodate footer of those seats with a deep fuel cup in order to control inversion you need version and pressure on the posterior heel. These Apex shoes with the adjustable heel counters work well for giving relief on the post-surgical site also it's they're a good stability shoe and that end stage of toe off there's not a whole lot of flexion within the forefoot of the shoe. Also for those Achilles tendon issues or post-surgical sites where the repair is not healing very well I have used the kunzi boot / Neurowalker and windowed out the area around the post-surgical site in order to eliminate pressure and in turn this controls plantar flexion along with dorsiflexion and eliminates the tracking of the Achilles tendon and promotes healing of the surgical site and within weeks it will be healed. This method actually works better than the Achilles tendon boots.
