Pedorthic community,
In a low point, PFA existed in a shoe box on Seymour Lefton’s desk. Through sheer will and determination of a single individual, PFA remained alive. To honor the commitment to the pedorthic profession, PFA Past President, Dean Morgan created the “Seymour Lefton Award” to honor an individual for the dedication and hard work of the pedorthist.
At the 2024 Symposium, Giuseppe Lombardo was given the “PFA Stewardship Award”. I created this award on his behalf for his tireless hours of work and dedication to maintaining PFA as an organization. During the height of COVID, when PFA was in a diminished position, not at all dissimilar in the early days under Seymour Lefton. When everyone else said NO, Giuseppe said YES. He was watchful over our funds and made sure our bills were paid on time. He made sure that members could rely on and trust that PFA would be here to serve not just the pedorthist, but the interest of PFA and “the pedorthic profession at large” for years to come.
Bob Schwartz, PFA Executive Director, presented Guiseppe with the award. Guiseppe was acknowledged for his willingness to maintain and hold together PFA even when it was bleak. Guiseppe was open to coaching and accepting help from others (Past Presidents and members), maintaining the principles of PFA. As Immediate Past President, he was (and is) a full partner in the trenches to this day.
Under Guiseppe’s stewardship and commitment (with assistance from Bob) the PFA path forward has been made!” I am so proud of all the work everyone has done to make PFA and this symposium fantastic!
Please join us in celebrating Giuseppe’s well-deserved recognition and his contributions to both PFA and the Pedorthic community.
Thank you Giuseppe,
Teresa Alpert
- PFA President
