| Kathy began her career as a cosmetologist in 1980 at the age of 23. Just three years later, she opened Indianapolis’ second full-service salon, Complete Concept Personal Care Studio. In 1988, she married, started a family, and in 1995 chose to sell the salon to become a stay-at-home mom—something she still says was the best decision for that stage of her life.She and her husband, an entrepreneur himself, have been married for 37 years and raised three children, all of whom have followed in their parents’ entrepreneurial footsteps. Today, Kathy is also a proud grandmother of three—ages 5, 7, and 11—each of whom wears custom orthotics to support healthy growth and strong feet.Kathy’s journey into pedorthics began in the early 2000s, when her mother developed diabetes. While searching for diabetic shoes in 2002, Kathy was offered a position at a local pedorthic shoe store. Having worn custom orthotics herself since age 22, she accepted and immediately felt a connection to the work. A year later, in a random moment, the pedorthist who had crafted her first pair of orthotics walked into the store. Living nearby, he soon became her mentor, teaching her practical skills and insights beyond what could be found in textbooks. With his guidance, Kathy earned her pedorthic certification in 2005.When that store closed in 2008, Kathy saw an opportunity. She opened the WalkEZstore and, once again an entrepreneur. After a year of testing her methods and proving their worth, she began working out of her garage and doing trade shows to build her brand. Building on the wisdom of her favorite mentors—C-Ped Jack Tovey, Dr. McGuire, Dr. Faddock, and Dr. Glaser—strong advocates of 1st ray foot function, she quickly discovered that restoring 1st ray function, when appropriate, was often the key to resolving foot pain. Now, 18 years later and in her 3rd move from the old garage days, Kathy has learned that her methods deliver more than comfort they can truly improve foot health at any age.
