DESCRIPTION:These sessions will detail and provide in-depth presentations of the most important and proven methods to preventing, managing and healing the diabetic foot. These sessions will enhance your abilities in the care and treatment of the diabetic foot, providing detailed ways to achieving optimal outcomes.

Each session will include a presentation as well as an opportunity for questions & answers.

TIME: The first Wednesday of each month. SESSION 01 begins on Wednesday, June 7th, 2023 to SESSION 10 on March 6th, 2024 from 9:00–11:00 am, EST.

Robert Schwartz is the President and CEO of Eneslow Pedorthic Enterprises which operates Eneslow Shoes and Orthotics, Eneslow Pedorthic Institute (EPI), and Eneslow.com. Eneslow, founded in 1909, is the fulfillment of Schwartz’s vision to offer people footwear that provides the benefits of style, comfort, and healthy living.
   Mr. Schwartz is currently an adjunct instructor in the department of orthopedic sciences at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine. He has been a faculty member of the pedorthic programs at Ball State University, Florida International University, Hospital for Special Surgery, New York University Medical Center, Northwestern University, Staten Island University, Shoe Service Institute, UCLA, and others.
   Mr. Schwartz is a past president (1986-1988) of the Pedorthic Footcare Association (PFA). He served on the board as Chair of their Pedorthic Educator’s Committee from 1985 to 1992, and 2009 to 2010. He currently serves on the Pedorthist Foot & Ankle Academy and as the Exercutive Director for PFA.

Podiatry Specialist in New York, NY, and has over 33 years of experience in the medical field. Graduated from California College of Podiatric Medicine in 1989.
   Dr. White has long combined interests in foot care and shoes.Selected as one of the most influential podiatrists in the US.
   He created SafeStep which offered a proprietary, web-based program that streamlined shoe ordering with the guaranteed assurance of Medicare compliance.
   Dr. White serves on an American Podiatric Medical Association committee that addresses matters relating to durable medical equipment and is a Codingline Expert Panelist. He is a three-time Ironman triathlon finisher.

April Wilson CM PTA, BS, CKTP, Cl is a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant with over 20 years of clinical experience treating inpatient and outpatient orthopaedics, wound care and sports related injuries.
   April's focus of treatment has been lower extremities with specialization in orthotics, kinesio taping and recommendations of footwear. She is certified in manual physical therapy, a clinical instructor and a certified kinesio tape practitioner.
   Areas of interest for April are lower extremity biomechanical dysfunctions. Her primary role is the National Clinical Educator of Foot Care and Orthopaedics for Medi USA.

Giuseppe Lombardo has been a certified pedorthist since 1996. Prior to working as a C.Ped, Giuseppe worked as a carpenter, and served with the military working on large jet aircraft. Eventually, Giuseppe returned to his family footwear business.
   During the early part of the 20th century, Lombardo’s great-grandfather, grandfather and uncles began making horse saddles and other leatherwork items which eventually lead them into the repair and modification of shoes. The skills and abilities were passed down to Giuseppe and his sister Elsa.
   Originally from New York, Giuseppe and Elsa currently run Lombardo’s Comfort & Casual Shoes in Ocala Florida. Giuseppe works with doctors and shoe companies worldwide stating, “We do what we can to get people into shoes that are right for them…bringing generations of experience… providing them the ability to walk with ease and comfort.”
   Giuseppe is currently the President of Pedorthic Footcare Association and embodies the core principle of PFA, “Pedorthists supporting you, first step to last!”.

Description: This session will focus on the effects of pressure and shear on comfort, balance, alignment, posture, and gait. This includes biomechanical objectives, strategies & plans to relieve shear and pressure.
   Through pedorthic assessment and “Footwear Forensics”, we will identify footwear and orthotic selection features and benefits for the diabetic patient.

Teresa Alpert is the Orthotist on Faculty at the University of Colorado, Foot and Ankle Center. Early on in her Orthotist training she realized that there was a need for more Pedorthic education. She attended Ball State after completing her orthotic training at Northwestern.
   Teresa is an industry leader and mentor. Past President of BOC, Educational Chair of NSRA and Board Member of PFA, Teresa has attended numerous speaking engagements and led many education programs.
   Teresa is on the Executive Committee for PFA and is a committee member of the Pedorthist Foot and Ankle Academy.

Seamus Kennedy is co-owner of Hersco Ortho Labs, New York, New York, along with his younger brother, Cathal.
   Seamus oversees and is a presenter for the pedorthics education program at the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists (the Academy) Annual Meeting & Scientific Symposium; he has authored and been interviewed for many articles related to pedorthics and foot and lower-limb biomechanics; he speaks regularly on the manufacturing and fitting of custom shoes and orthotics; he is called upon by OP&P practitioners and physicians to consult or help with unusual cases; and he is a member of The O&P EDGE Editorial Advisory Board.
   Seamus sits on the board of the nonprofit Pedorthic Foundation and is currently working with the New York College of Podiatric Medicine, New York, to help develop its new pedorthic program. He is also on the committee of the Pedorthist Foot and Ankle Academy.
   Seamus and his brother have grown Hersco from a staff of two to a staff of 21, expanded into central fabrication, purchased a molded shoe company, developed a line of ankle gauntlets, and become a Richie Brace partner.
