Frequently Asked Questions

What is PFA PAC?

PFA PAC is a separate segregated fund affiliated with the Pedorthic Footcare Association (PFA).  It was formed to allow PFA members to pool their resources to provide financial support to candidates for federal office who support the pedorthic footwear community.

PFA PAC is a collective political effort by the members of the Pedorthic Footcare Association.  Federal law forbids trade associations from contributing to political campaigns, hence PFA PAC was created to allow the PFA members to have a voice in the political process.  PFA PAC operates on the principle that electing qualified candidates to office is the first step in achieving effective, representative government.

How are PFA PAC funds distributed?

PFA PAC is nonpartisan and supports candidates who are supportive of pedorthists without regard to political affiliation.

Decisions regarding distribution of PFA PAC funds are approved by the PFA PAC Board of Directors.  The PFA PAC Board is composed of PFA members from all over the United States.  Service on the Board is by appointment in accordance with PFA PAC bylaws.  Board members are volunteers who serve without compensation or expense reimbursement.

PFA members are free to suggest a candidate for support by the PFA PAC.

Who may contribute to PFA PAC?

PFA PAC may only receive voluntary, personal contributions from members in good standing of the Pedorthic Footcare Association.  Only U.S. citizens or permanent legal residents of the U.S. may contribute to PFA PAC.

How much should I contribute to PFA PAC?

PFA PAC encourages personal contributions from levels of $100, $250, $500, $1,000 or $5,000.  The amounts suggested are merely guidelines.  Individuals are free to contribute more or less than the guidelines suggest.  PFA PAC will not favor or disadvantage anyone by reason of the amount of their contribution or their decision not to contribute.  The Federal Election Commission limits individual contributions to $5,000 per year.
