A friend lost toes in a mower accident. What are your footwear suggestions?
Ready made and/or custom. Does he have to come into the store? Are there shoes that are not custom made for partial toe loss? Custom would probably be too expensive or is it at all covered by insurance given the accident? He needs a better solution than Merrells’.

Determining the Highest Point of the Arch (HPA)

I would like some to hear comments regarding where the highest point of the arch (HPA) exists relative to the heel and forefoot. I take it that it would be where the navicular tuberosity lies, but this may not be the case; does anyone know this? Now I realize that there is an infinite variation of the actual height of the arch at HPA, but where is this?

If you were to draw a line from the medial 1st met head to the medial heel on a footprint (say a Harris mat), where (approximately) would be the HPA? I have had no success in finding biomechanical literature on this subject. Is there some formula one might adapt from autopsy findings?

Better-looking shoes?

Better-looking shoes?

I am 36 years old from Israel.

I’m playing for Israel national team in amputee football, and i have a limb length of 9 cm in my right leg and structural abnormalities in my feet, from birth.

Therefore, all my life I walk with orthopedic leather shoes that I can’t stand them and want to see if someone can make me a better-looking shoes that looks like "Regular" shoes/ “Sports” shoes, and get rid of the traditional one.

This is my big dream - to replace these shoes and have much more confidence and maybe also walk better than today, so if you have any idea of who can help me and make shoes that I dream about. Suggestions? I would love to hear from you!

Got a call today from an old friend in O&P. He received an Rx from a doctor for a Benesch Boot… HCPCS Code L3213, Benesch boot, pair, child…

If I'm recalling correctly, it's a piece clear of plastic that connects the heels of a pair of leather high top shoes? Similar to a Dennis Brown Splint but shorter. What's your best guess besides the doctor needs to update his knowledge of children's footwear & bracing…and no, Markell didn't have a clue.
