Dr. James McGuire Appointed PFA Medical Advisor
The Pedorthic Footcare Association’s (PFA) Board of Directors is pleased to announce that James McGuire, DPM, PT, C. Ped., ATC, CWS, FAPWCA, has been appointed as its medical advisor for a two-year term through Nov. 2013. Dr. McGuire currently serves as director of the Leonard Abrams Center for Advanced Wound Healing and associate professor of the Department of Podiatric Medicine and Orthopedics at the Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia, Pa.
"Dr. McGuire has an extremely in-depth knowledge of the pedorthic profession which, combined with his background in other varied medical specialties, brings a wealth of symbiotic expertise to PFA and its Board of Directors,” said Kristi Hayes, C.Ped., president of PFA. "Before being appointed to the board as medical advisor, Dr. McGuire was well known within the pedorthic profession as PFA, as a teacher, a presenter, a writer and so much more. We are very excited to have a professional with his wealth of experience working to advance our allied healthcare profession.”
PFA, the only organization in the United States solely dedicated to the pedorthic profession, appoints prominent general and specialized physicians as advisors in non-voting positions on its board of directors. These advisors assist and advise the volunteer leadership on directives and regulations that pertain to the education of the membership. Advisors also submit current medical information relative to the pedorthic foot care profession to the board; present at PFA’s Annual Symposium & Exhibition, the world’s largest such event solely dedicated to the pedorthic profession; deliver webinar presentations; and write articles for Current Pedorthics magazine, the official publication of PFA.
