Pedorthic Footcare Association's Political Action Committee
Do your legislators know what keeps you up at night?
You can easily ensure that they do by supporting the newly created Pedorthic Footcare Association Political Action Committee (PFA PAC), the bi-partisan federal political action committee of the Pedorthic Footcare Association. PFA PAC was recently formed by PFA as the financial vehicle through which you can support the election of candidates who share your commitment to ensuring patient access to quality pedorthic care and protecting your right to practice. PFA PAC strengthens PFA's advocacy efforts and our presence in Washington.And it needs your support!
As a PFA PAC participant, you'll have the opportunity to attend special events and deliver PFA PAC contributions to Members of Congress. You can help promote issues important to pedorthists, such as obtaining appropriate qualified provider language for Medicare's Therapeutic Shoes for Persons with Diabetes benefit (TSD); safeguard against harmful and unnecessary regulations; protect patient access to pedorthic services and your right to practice; advance general awareness of pedorthics with the decision makers on Capitol Hill and the agencies; and, build a relationship with your local Representatives.
If every eligible member of PFA contributed just $25 to PFA PAC in 2013, its political clout would be on par with all other allied health profession PACs. To be truly effective, PFA PAC needs to raise $35,000 in the next few months. Here are just a few reasons to participate in PFA PAC:
- Your contribution works to improve the delivery of allied healthcare services to the most at-risk patients;
- It helps put pedorthists on an equal footing with orthotists, prosthetists, other allied healthcare providers, and the powerful insurance companies;
- It ensures your voice will be heard on Capitol Hill;
- It's an easy, economical and worthwhile way to get involved!
As you know, our success is heavily influenced by lawmakers and regulators at the state and federal levels. Without a doubt, government decisions have an enormous impact on how you do business, especially your efforts to better serve your patients while trying to remain profitable. With 2014 being a critical mid-term election year, your involvement in PFA PAC matters more than ever. Can you afford to sit on the sidelines and hope that politicians make the right decisions that impact your livelihood?
